Museums in Islamabad

The capital city of Pakistan Islamabad is located in the Potohar plateau in the northwestern portion of the country. The city of Islamabad was built during the 1960s replacing Karachi as Pakistan’s capital. Islamabad is a modern city. In comparison to the other cities of Pakistan, Islamabad is very clean as well as beautiful. The city is well organized and is divided into several sectors and zones. Total there are eight zones in Islamabad including the diplomatic enclave, the commercial district, the educational sector, the industrial area and many others. Each of these zones and enclaves has their own shopping area and parks. The famous Fiasal mosque is also located in Islamabad.
The city of Islamabad has an extreme climate with hot summers and rainy monsoon occurring during July and August. During the winters the city also has snowfalls over the hills and the city. Islamabad is a young city with plenty of tourists destinations. There are many tourist attractions in the city that attract tourists from all the nooks and corners of world. Among the tourists destinations the museums are very famous and are frequently visited. Though there are many museums in Islamabad, only few are discussed below:

National Museum, Islamabad:
The national museum of Islamabad is considered as a national monument as it represents four provinces and three territories of Pakistan. The famous museum is constructed in a blooming flower shape. This shape of the museum represents Pakistan’s progress as a developing country. Its four main petals represent the four provinces including the NWFP, Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh. The star and crescent designed on it represent the Country’s flag. The entire monument truly represents the culture and civilization of the country. The museum has been constructed as a part of dedication to those who lost their lives for liberation of Pakistan. The complete museum building has been constructed using the reddish granite marble which are though costly but are strong and beautiful.

Lok Virsa Museum:
One of the finest cultural museums of Pakistan, the Lok Virsa Museum is located in Islamabad. The museum is the perfect epitome of culture and heritage of the people of Pakistan. In the museum the life style of different localities of Pakistan is exhibited. Its statues, pottery, pictures, music and textile work all represent the culture and heritage of the country.
