G-8 Markaz

The picturesque and lively capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad forms a major financial and business hub for the country. Replacing Karachi as the new capital in 1963, the metropolitan city of Islamabad has grown considerably in recent years. Today home to several Parliament houses, Government offices, business institutions, major banks, Muslim architectural and heritage sites, beautiful mosques, grand monuments and structures, museums, shopping and entertainment hubs, Islamabad makes for a thriving tourism destination here in the South Asian subcontinent. The capital city of Islamabad is divided into several sectors, while each sector comprises its own sub-areas and hubs, including a central shopping area, known as ‘Markaz’. One prominent shopping hub is the G-8 Markaz which provides for an amazing shopping experience here in Pakistan’s capital.

The country has slowly emerged out of the shackles of poverty since independence in 1947. Overcoming past decades of economic instability, the recent introduction of expansive economic reforms has resulted in a stronger economic outlook. The steady rise in areas of export and import has strengthened both domestic and international markets in Pakistan. The rapid urbanization in recent years has witnessed several multinationals and international companies set up base here. The overwhelming popularity of the several shopping malls and plazas, along with the traditional bazaars of the region make up the charm of splendid shopping.

While each Markaz has its own unique features and is worth visiting individually. While most items are catered for in each Markaz, the lively G-8 Markaz too offers extraordinary features, including local amenities. Mostly crowded during the Muslim festival of Eid and on almost all evenings, shoppers at the G-8 Markaz have a wide range of items to choose from, ranging from clothing, apparels, kitchen items, fabrics, books, toys, shoes, handicrafts, fast food etc. The G-8 Markaz region is home to several ATM’s for quick cash withdrawals, and also lies within close proximity to Pakistan Institute Of Medical Sciences (PIMS), one of the major hospitals in Islamabad. A great hub for car hires, the G-8 Markaz region also provides for cars which can be hired with drivers, conveniently avoiding paying large sums for security or for seeking one’s way through the city.

Similar to popular main markets dotting the various sectors of Islamabad, the G-8 Markaz too forms an enchanting hub for shoppers and tourists. The G-8 Markaz region is home to several outlets and stores, some of which include automobile-dealers, electrical works, sports goods, plazas, hotels, restaurants, cargo agents, etc. Islamabad’s G-8 Markaz thus not only forms a popular shopper’s hub, but also a prominent user-services oriented destination here in the capital city of Islamabad.
